Smart Workers are Actually Smart

Reflections on lesson 1.2
 Smart Workers Are Actually Smart!

In this edition of my blog I will try to focus on answering the following questions and share with you some of my progress so far concerning this level.

  1. Do you feel you are a smarter worker/learner?
  2. What makes you say that?
  3. What next steps do you need to take to achieve your professional learning goal?

I can now gladly say that I am a Smart Worker because
(i)                 I have got to recognize that learning is a continuous process; even at work place, learning still takes place;
(ii)               Even my job especially this season of end of year examinations with busy and tight schedules has not stopped me from learning CCTI courses;
(iii)             At first, I used to care less about when the performance indicators of what I do would come, but now, I’ve got to know the outcome of the indicators as soon as the problems are identified. I give no time lag.
(iv)             I now have a group with whom I would love to share what I know with them, isn’t being smart, especially when there is trustworthiness?
(v)               Above all, I now enjoy technology like never before! This even makes me smarter.
(vi)             I am always ready to improve on the weakness I have identified.

However, the professional learning goals will be according to the following set steps
(i)                 define a clear set of goals based on the rigorous analysis of the information available;
(ii)               provide work-embedded learning to share new knowledge and skills more specifically through technology related programs;
(iii)             implement coherent, sustained, and evidenced-based learning strategies that easily improves instructional effectiveness and learner achievement;
(iv)             regularly assess the effectiveness of the professional development in achieving identified learning goals;
(v)               make improvements on defects identified on spot.

Now to be specific in this lesson, I found it so interesting to visit some websites and interact with guys on their blogs elsewhere outside Africa performing similar learning styles yet in different approach. It is so beautiful for me to be part of this amazing adventure.

Ciao!

What have you learned about your status of professional growth?

Lessons learned
(i)                 A lot has to be done by me to reach the levels of UNESCO-ICT CFT;
(ii)               More time is needed outside school hours to develop professionalism;
(iii)             Need to create and support networks, collaborations and coalitions;
(iv)             Develop norms of openness and trust;

  1. State your personal goal for your professional growth for the duration of this course. What do you aim to learn more about?
 Personal Goal

To increase the knowledge of my subject area using ICT such that it is embedded in my daily instructions.

But more specifically I aim:
(i)         to improve my professional practices through the use of ICT pedagogical skills to effectively make a difference in children's lives.
(ii)        to develop personal skills that make me a more professional and may be a more successful individual of my kind.
(iii)       to develop creativity through social learning and explore individual learning styles;
(iv)       to develop a plan of action to address  my professional learning;
