Teaching
and Learning using software applications are a method and practices used to
learn and to facilitate learning/teaching process. It is the approach we
discover, we understand and the way we teach. It involves the tools and
instruments we use and the instructional patterns we use.
Just
as it is certainly not entirely the equipments that are necessary to build a
house, of course, there must be a layout.
It is not the computer or the network that adds value alone, it is the
method in which the instruments used that eventually brings the difference. No
doubt it is the softwares that should be invested in the way investments are
done on the tools and hard wares in teaching and learning.
In
this lesson, it is outlined that Technology (educational softwares) in teaching
and learning is many things.
(i)
It
is the process by which we learn;
(ii)
Technology
(educational softwares) is among the instrument we use to deliver instruction
in classrooms;
(iii)
Technology
is the instrument learners would want to use to stretch, improve, and transform
their learning.
(iv)
It
is in itself the instrument we would want to use to increase our efficiency as
learners, instructors, and administrators.
(v)
It
is the processes we participate in to create learning conditions.
(vi)
It
is the design of learning activities and programs.
Some
of the principles outlined here includes, value addition, pedagogical focus,
quality work, and sharing of concepts among others.
Nonetheless,
there are many types of educational software available for a variety of
different subjects. These include:
(i)
Authoring
Systems
(ii)
Graphic
Software
(iii)
Drill
& Practice Software
(iv)
Educational
Games
(v)
Simulations
(vi)
Math
Problem Solving Software
These
softwares have become a necessary teaching instrument for teachers to use as
part of their lessons. The implementation of these sofwares in the classrooms is
believed to have greatly improved performance of both the students and teachers.
The
above pictures shows my evaluation report on softwares I evaluated and strongly
recommended them for adoption in the class room, Microsoft visio and
Mathematics.
